At Chinmay International School, Karjan, we believe that reading is the foundation of learning and growth. To nurture this habit among students, the school celebrated the 30th National Reading Day and Reading Month from 19 June to 18 July 2025. The theme of the celebration, “Read and Grow”, was inspired by the vision of Shri P.N. Panicker, the pioneer of India’s library movement. The initiative aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to instill a lifelong love for books, strengthen vocabulary, and promote critical thinking skills among students from Pre-Primary to Grade 12.
The month-long campaign began on National Reading Day – 19 June 2025, and brought together students, teachers, and the community in an engaging celebration of books. Through diverse activities, the event highlighted the importance of consistent reading, imaginative expression, and collaborative learning. The campaign also emphasized joyful learning practices and extended reading beyond classrooms through creative, cultural, and community outreach activities.
The Reading Month celebration had a strong academic and cultural impact across the school:
Students developed consistent reading routines and enthusiasm for books.
Improved vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency through daily reading.
Increased library visits and book borrowing by students of all grades.
Strengthened community spirit through collaborative drives like book donations.

The Reading Month Celebration was designed to go beyond routine activities, offering unique and engaging experiences for students. From multilingual poetry recitations to the Padha Yatra – a community-driven reading walk, every initiative promoted inclusivity and cultural richness. Creative mediums like art, drama, and interactive games made the journey joyful and ensured that students connected with reading in fun and meaningful ways.
